AB JOMed - JOTR Map Editor Released by A.Bullet

Map Editor for JO released - I was sick of waiting for Nova.. so well I built this one..

Anyhow .. with the help of a lot of others I have released a fairly complete Map editor for Full version Joint Ops.

Some Features include..

-- Ability to use 3d wireframe mode for about 90% of the objects.

-- Ability to see color and heightmaps of ALL terrains - thereby allowig 3d height adjustment.

-- Ability to tile maps.

-- Option added to allow selection of AAS game type

-- Removed need to hexedit maps

-- Option added to adjust distances on LFP spawnpoints for AAS maps.

-- Many other unlocked features.

Special thanks for all the help provided that made this possible.. thanks go out to
Anoshi, DareHacker, DevilsClaw, DV - for without them.. this couldnt have been possible.

The file is located --

Thx alot guys!

To all who worked on the JO MED: Thx alot, now I don't have to bite fingernails anymore for the wait of the MED !

Thx again ;)

PS

I found out that some stuff made with BHD ( custom items ) , can be transported to JO!

I did a test with a bridge I made, moved it in the BHD med to flat terrain, and reopened it again in JO med , and works awesome!

I only removed the railing of my bridge because I didnt knew if those parts would be in JO.

that's an error in the converter.. the second one is a save... so when that comes up, goto ur JO folder and save it there. then should run... if ur getting an error.. write down what it is, and post it.

ok i messed around with it and the sad thing is that when i played it the only thing that poped up was a few tiles and a dune buggy (sigh) not even the player start was there and i had to run all the way over there to see what was up!!!:(

yeah i had to play around a bit to get the player start to work, but it does, just don't think it's the player start marker it's self...

what i mean is that since the game is all team based, the player start marker which is primarily for SP missions doesn't ahve any point.. because u start either red or blue. u need the Blue player start marker and red.........

Just an FYI - if you're trying to place an item onto the terrain in the med and the program crashes, try renaming the .3di file of that item and then try placing it again (yes, restart the med before and after fiddling with the name of the 3di file.)

so, an example:

I try to place beach hut 1, med bombs just after popping up a window saying something like "Loading bhut1".

Close off the med, open up your JOMed folder and rename bhut1.3di to bhut1.3di.busted or something, restart the med and now you'll be able to place the item without it crashing.

You will lose the wireframe (the red 'x' will appear instead of the hut), but you won't lose any more unsaved work due to the med crashing on 3di's that didn't export neatly (sorry, QA did miss a couple).

OK, Thanks Sazza, I'm gonna try and upload it again later (to our download section), I only have 56k here ..and the upload keeps timing out...

Are you going to host the file for a while? If so, I can put it in the Download setion, but link it to your site, otherwise, I'll have to go to a freinds place and try it with her 512/128 adsl..

Thanks for the update..coming down now..

I'm new to all of this. Currently looking for some walkthrough - bs tutorials (on each kind) so that I can expand on the map with own ideas. Although I have heard through a couple squads that editing some else's map is a major NO NO. Is this true... or is it just squad maps by other squads?

AS we have said in many other threads..the Med is basicly the BHD med..if you have a copy, use that manual, or look in the BHD Map Makers section for hints..and use this forum as well..

Maybe you have a friend with BHD, get a copy of the Med manual from them.

This map editor sucks ass

Thanks for the effort guys but a broken map editor is a bout as useful as a bucket with a big hole in the bottom

But I BLAME NOVA-ill-LOGIC
for not releasing a working editor with the JO release

This has been one of the features that has kept me buying Delta Force

Thanks NOVALOGIC you annoying Motherf@ckers !:o

GrimJerr, Med works fine for most of us..

If your not happy, then, there's no pleasing some people I suppose....but I'd say your feelings are in the minority..it's not pefect, but it works for us..and it's 100% on the other hacked Med I've used...

Awesome Thank You

Thank you very much for helping to feed our voracious appetite for new missions.
Is the current download version already fixed or do we need to apply the _fix file also?

Many thanks to you, awesome wizards, who make map editing possible!

No, you need to add the fix as far as I know...AB hasn't advised me he has updated the Med download with the fix..put it this way..if you run the med, and it has no pic for the med items, you still need the fix.

yay a map editor for JO!

This is grate!
A map maker for JO is just what I have been looking for.

-Downloading now!-

I Hope to eventually have some maps up for review.

In the mean time IL try out some maps in here and learn how to work this map engine.

Thanks for the hard work to make this possible.

Best regards cinZ
