Map Description:

Map Description

This is a CSAR mission that takes place in a dense jungle.A C-130 was shot down while flying over Columbia.Satelite Images show that it was shot down by Exocet SAM Launchers.The columbian Guerillas have taken our pilots hostages and Delta Team 5 has been sent to rescue them.You will infil via convoy and must locate the C-130's black box.Then head to the Villa and destroy the SAM Launchers and rescue the hostages.


Important Note:

This mission has TS music and has been named as the stock mission to fullfil this purpose.Your stock mission will be temporarily covered up.See the Readme.txt for more details.
Thre are two versions of the map provided:one with TS music and the other without the music(so you can hear the Jungle Env sounds better)
Also make sure that you have the /d command set on your BHD shortcut.


IF YOU HAVE DONE THE 1.5 UPDATE THEN I RECOMMEND YOU PLAY WITH BALDO'S WEAPON MOD OR YOU WON'T HEAR THE JUNGLE ENV SOUNDS!

I played this mission through a few times, and I have my nits to pick with it, but only 'cause I get nit-picky about things that normal players hardly notice.

I think TH60's commitment to producing maps utilizing the game's music is a noble effort, but as with most efforts considered noble, this requires undeniable talent and knowledge to do 'cause it's convolutedly difficult, and ultimately, isn't terribly useful.

The TS jungle sound loops don't work after the 1.5.0.5 update. If you play the mission without music in the updated TS, the jungle is deathly silent (<shamelessplug> unless you have one of my mods, 'cause I fixed that </shamelessplug>).

There's a neat trick or two in this mission, but nothing jaw-dropping. Decent .wac dialog. The end cinematic is nice.

This is an enjoyable mission. I liked it, at least.

Thanks alot Baldo for taking your time to comment.I know some people don't like music so i provided a silent version.But I forgot about the 1.5 update not playing the sounds!I always play with your mods so I heard the jungle sounds.Thanks for reminding me about that.

Careful explanation here: Operation Golden Eagle doesn't [i]overwrite[/i] any mission, it simply preempts it.

Basically, without the /d tag, the game doesn't use any files that are not in the .pff. With the /d, it discovers two .bms files named tsbhd_01.bms; one in the EXP1.pff (Drug Smuggling Harbor), and one in the game folder (Operation Golden Eagle). The /d target line tag tells the game that it should search the game directory (or folder) for game files, and if any duplicate files are found, the duplicate in the game directory is the one to be loaded.

So, Operation Golden Eagle preempts Drug Smuggling Harbor.

Didn´t get any music but I´m not bothered about that. Great gameplay, nice flowing wave files, plenty of ammo and med kits, lots of detail, lots of cover (for enemy and the good guys) and an excellent story line. What more could we ask for? Thunderhawk shows us how it´s done, again!
