Map Description:

Relieve the historic battle of October 3rd 1993 as a ranger. I've tried to make the map as accurate and detailed as possible to stay true to the facts. I've managed to get aerial photos from the target building (U can see it on the loading screen) & Mog itself so I think I managed to recreate the city. Lets see what you would have done if you were there on the street! Hints & Tips: !!!!! dont forget to add /s /d to the command line, or you wont have any sounds + WAC events which are very important!!!! - Follow the instructions of the mission! - Follow waypoints All comments are welcome! Good luck soldier!

This mission is extremely well though out and executed. The wac was extremely efective and sounded very good, the background sounds were awesome. The action was great but not too intense. My onlly beefs, are you should take away mog buildings where they won't be seen, lower end systems are going to experiance some frame lag. At the infil, the guys roping have some issues, some don't grab the rope, others grab it late. Those are the only issues. i give it a 9/10. much better then my the real Irene... which brings me to my next point which had nothing to do with rating. well, this was indeed more accurate then Nova's version, but not by a whole lot. Little Birds land on ground, good, i didn't count how many there were, but there should be 4. Helo insert from north, no should've been from south. Convoy waits northeast of target, no it should've been behind the hotel in the south. i'm not going to go in depth because the longer i make the list the stupider i look, lol. if you want more info on what really happened feel free to u2u me, or check out my less decorated, shorter map, The Real Irene, lol

Hey a Really Like this map. this is the best one i has ever played....one PROBLEM I Found was the fast roping. Some don't grab the rope, others grab it late.....thas the only problem I Found in this Great map.....the use of Decorations/Buildings was great, you almost use 1200.(1187 actually). this The Action was very good, Good layout of the map. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE GOOD MAPS. Now, this is one of my Favorites SP maps. I rate your map 10/10, exellent work ........J.L.

This is MY kind of map! I really like this map. Everything worked just fine... the decorations were fantastic...Plenty of bad guys to waste without being wasted yourself 100 times! Power-ups were exactly right. Sounds, Wave files, and instructions were fine. Just a really fun fun map. I haven't read what everyone else wrote in the comments but I feel they will agree with me. This is what BHDown single player missions should be about. If you want to play a good map, I recommend this one!

Wow, this one hell of a mission!!! This is by far the best "Irene" mission i have played!!! It is way way better than the Novalogic Irene. Like what Mr. Snow said, "Plenty of bad guys to waste without being wasted yourself", so that's a plus for me. Excellent use of detail and sound. The rope in was awesome, and i really liked how the team mates took cover in the "corner" instead of standing in the middle of the street in the beginning phase of the mission. The concept of having the Delta guys leading the rest of the guys was very practical and cool, so i didn't have to be the first to be shot ;) The crash site was nicely made, and the enemy came from all sides was cool, making it more challenging. This is a fun map that can be played for a long time. You know, i want to thank you for making good maps such as Durant's Crash site and this map, because talented map makers like you keep this game alive. Keep up the good work, and as always, i'm looking forward to your next map as well. 10/10

Now that i am able to play BHD...i have to say that this map, along with Timber3050's "The Real Irene"are the 2 best Irene attempts out there. The buildings are just right, not friggen 2-3 stories high(the movie version, shot in Rabat, Morroco) Plenty of bg's, i like how the RPG's just seem to come outa no where, and the insertions are pretty nice, though Timber is correct on local's of Super 64's drop point, and the convoy, which waited on the south side of the Olympic. But with the exception of these minor things, nj m8!

i think my rating meter is broken, lol my recent ratings haven't been to within the average of others, like my nine while everyone else gave it a ten. understandable that you didn't stay totally to the real events for gameplay reasons, but its nice that you were more accurate then nova, which couldn't be less accurate if they made it jungle, lol. well, i've got nothing else to say. looking forward to see if you make a part 2... speaking of which four months and i still haven't made the real overnight stay. keep at it daskal

As for part2 - I havent really thought about it yet. Bs2 has just U2U-ed me a message that he wants to make the PERFECT October 3rd map including all the events of that day. He wants to assamble a group of mapmakers especially for this project. Well I think I'm into it : ) and I think that there are many mapmakers out there who feel the same way!

look man i took a look at your RATING scores, and I saw that you gave everyone else a 1 - so i think you are deliberatly trying to undermine the work of others. You said: "this map is so shitty that i am going to KILL myself after playing this pile of shit" And I say: PLEASE DO ME THE FAVOUR AND DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some another examples of Pablo 69's CONSTRUCTIVE comments that he gave to another map it says: "I hate this fucking mutha fucking map, its the shittest piece o shit eva" Look man I'm really not one of the angriest people of the world but I would be lying if I would say I wouldn't like to kick in your butt (or at least have you get banned for this). I don't have any problems with critisism because they help you improve the mapmaking process or make you aware of some problems. but your comments & ratings are nowhere near CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. The only purpose of your "comments" are to undermine others work and to lower them. And to say that this map is a "PILE OF SHIT" well........ I think you are yourself the biggest Pile of SHIT EVER! (plz forgive me for the rough words+phrases but I1m upset beyond words)

this was by far one of the best maps ive ever played, excellent portrayl of the day that the Rangers and Special Forces, 10th Mountain and UN troops made history, but there are some mistakes, Crash Site on Super 6-1 were (dont know the correct numbers) Delta Snipers who defended the site until Chalk 2 relieved them the crash site it self was an alley way with no huts or tin shanties covering (thats the description of the crash in numerous documentaries) Chalk 2 was the first on scene, but as far as i know the Delta teams never made it to the crash they were pinned down south of the crash, execpt for Howes Team which was nearest to the crash the convoy was 5 humvees short and one truck short but im sure there are reasons for this. but i loved the way you positioned the team one on each corner was beautifully done, i especially love on one occasion the leap frogging of the delta team, one guy went first the others stop then they would go.there are tons of bad guys which in the real battle happended, overall excellent map a 9/10 on this map, note: was wondering why my Ranger team kept getting smaller and smaller, it started out with 6 then i moved (i know the 3 were left on the corner because i didnt reach the waypoint) then i was down to 2 (one didnt follow) dont know where the other one went, then i was down to 1. i killed more civilans than the whole campaign combined 56 was the last count (the civilans were put extremely well i remember one of the gunmen used the civilans as a shield)

I joined this site to support the FANTASTIC single player maps, being a loner at heart. Many thanks to all the creators of same! Regarding the great start to this mission, all my troops made the rope "no problem", so maybe you boys need to train your troopers a little before you take then on the road! Mrbird out.

For the part i was able to play, until i gave up, the map seemed real good. but there's too many objects in the map. It was laggy on my 2.3 GHz Celeron, 512 MB ram. im thinkin about downloading a bms to mis converter and delete some irrevelant buildings and civilians so i can play the mission in real time

» Lag???

Posted: Tuesday - August 24, 2004 9:31PM

Posted by: daskal

Well I've got a 1,9 ghz fast Athlon CPU + 512 mB Ram + GefFx 5200 videocard (wich is a very slow one) I'm playing with 800x600 resolution and there is no lag. But If you play on 1024x768 there might be. Try reducing the resolution.

» nope... still laggy

Posted: Tuesday - August 24, 2004 11:02PM

Posted by: AN4RCHY

im playin 800x600, Low or Off all in-game graphics options. i updated my video drivers, which i think is the problem... im not sure what my video card is, i think its built in my system by Intel Extreme Graphics. Not sure how fast it is

» Your videocard

Posted: Wednesday - August 25, 2004 8:33PM

Posted by: daskal

Well if you have an integrated, built-in videocard - it could possibly cause lag in this map for you. Especially if your card doesn't have enough MB Ram. You should buy a REAL 3D Card - or else you will miss out many cool things - not just this map, but games like Half-Life 2, Doom3 etc. !!!!!!!

» Thanks

Ok... Thanks for the help. I'll stick to my first idea... delete extra civilians and buildings. again, thanks dude.

Hi well done on your map it is breath taking. here are a few suggestions for your map: (to make it more cool:) 1:make your blackhawks fly a bit lower as they did in the real mission in 1993, they played a big part in providing fire suport(as you should know) so make them go a bit lower. 2: some of the rangers hung their legs out of the chopper as they flew in. (its easy to do that in DFBHD) just make them guard on the edge of the Blackhawk then unguard them as they are about to rope in. 3: you seem a bit farfrom the rest of the Mission. the Rangers were able to see each other from where they were blocking. OR are you Chalk 4? 4 they dropped a block north of their position. 4: your surrounding buildings are all the same as you are in the blackhawk. make it be a bit more like a proper city and change different types of buildings as you fly in. any way well done it is a exellent map keep on making more for us hungry lesser map makers:)
